Did You Know

Selection of stone is a multi step process, which varies according to application and personal taste. For example, granite is preferred for most kitchen countertops because of its durability, hardness, resistance to bacteria and heat. Alternatively, marble while quite beautiful, is softer, more porous than granite and somewhat susceptible to staining and scratching.

How to pick a granite countertop?

Consider granite colors that complement your kitchen cabinets and floor covering. Consider a pattern that coordinates well with your walls and floor. Always bring a sample of your cabinets and floor covering to match against slabs in our warehouse. Request several granite samples to bring home for viewing in your own kitchen at different times of the day and evening. Remember that you will likely own the same granite for as long as you own your kitchen cabinets. If you prefer a higher priced stone, justify the cost difference over the lifetime of your countertops. For example, a $1,000 price difference between stone levels over ten years costs $100 per year or less than 28 cents per day. While darker stone is generally less porous than lighter stone, resealing once per year is recommended for all granite countertops.
