Custom Stone Countertops
Selection of stone is a multi step process, which varies according to application and personal taste. For example, granite is preferred for most kitchen countertops because of its durability, hardness, resistance to bacteria and heat. Alternatively, marble while quite beautiful, is softer, more porous than granite and somewhat susceptible to staining and scratching.

Marble Countertops Highlight Designer Showhouse Kitchen
Local stone fabricator Bridgewater Marble & Granite (BMG) recognizes the value of technology and education to stay competitive. The Somerset county custom stone fabricator uses state of the art templating and computer controlled cutting tools to produce beautiful countertops made from granite, marble and other natural stone. But technology alone without a skilled labor force that understands its applications has little value in today’s high-tech, global marketplace. So when a local kitchen designer asked Bridgewater Marble and Granite to partner with them to raise awareness and support for math and science education among pre-school children, they jumped at the chance. The company teamed with a number local area design and building trade professionals to donate material, time and talent to support the Junior League of Greater Princeton Designer Showhouse & Gardens XV initiative.
Bridgewater Marble and Granite is one of 30 top local architectural and design firms participating in this bi-annual event to support the Junior League’s “ROCKETS” project which stands for “Raising Our Children’s Knowledge by Educating Through Science”. Each team collaborates to perform an ‘extreme home makeover” on one component of the Designer Showhouse, either inside or outside. BMG is part of the Showhouse kitchen design team led by Spyglass Designs of Hopewell and Outerbridge Morgan Architects of Rocky Hill. The team considered several natural stone alternatives before selecting polished Carrara Venatino marble imported from Italy for the kitchen countertops and the 2” thick island top. The result is a beautiful marriage of form and function to complement newly remodeled kitchen cabinets, custom lighting, diffused glass backsplash tile and elegant dining room table and chairs, all donated or on-loan from local participating sponsors.
“Bridgewater Marble and Granite is proud to participate in this worthy event to benefit pre-school science education.” said Mike Rutkowski, BMG Marketing Director. “We invite the public to see the talented work done by all participating designers, suppliers and sponsors who elect to ‘pay it forward’ through their support”.
